Maine is known for its scenery-its jagged, mostly rocky coastline, its low rolling mountains and its heavily forested interior-as well as its seafood cuisine, mostly lobsters and clams. It is the only state which borders only one other state and is the only state with a one syllable name. This makes it easier to write your return address on an envelope. The only downside to retiring in Maine is that Stephen King based all of his characters on people he has met there.
