As close to New York as New Jersey is (but with less toxic waste) and quick jaunt to Boston (to which it is second in snooty, upper class arrogance), a Connecticut retirement offers a best-of-both-worlds access to big-city cultural amenities mixed with quaint Yankee charm. If you are an adventurer (at least enough to brave the Northeastern weather) and enjoy the scenic beauty and character of New England as well as its proximity to New York City and Boston, you may want to join the many young, active retirees who are selecting Connecticut as their best place to retire.
