Retirement to Wisconsin provides an array of wonderful possibilities. With its location between the Great Lakes and the Mississippi River it is home to a wide variety of geographical features. The state is divided into five distinct regions. In the north the Lake Superior lowland, just to the south the northern highland with massive mixed hardwood and coniferous forests as well as thousands of glacial lakes. The central plain has unique sandstone formations and rich farmlands while the eastern ridges and lowlands regions are home to the state's largest cities. In the southwest the western upland is a rugged landscape with a mix of forest and farmland, including many bluffs on the Mississippi River. If you love cheese and beer, this is the state for you.
